Lockmeter version 1.4.3 is now available at
http://oss.sgi.com/projects/lockmeter as a patch to the 2.4.0-test8
kernel. This new Lockmeter supports i386, ia64, alpha, mips64, and
sparc64. A new lockstat 1.4.2 is also available, although the previous
lockstat version 1.4.1 (and 1.4) remain compatible with this latest
Lockmeter.

The Alpha port is hopefully now working again, thanks to Peter Rival at
DEC/Compaq.

The ia64 port has been tested as an SMP kernel on a uniprocessor Big Sur
and is presumed to support SMP hardware. (My SMP testing will be
forthcoming.) To build for ia64, the base 2.4.0-test8 source is first
patched by linux-2.4.0-test8-ia64-000913.diff (available officially at
http://www.kernel.org and unofficially at
http://oss.sgi.com/projects/lockmeter/download), then patched with the
basic Lockmeter 1.4.3 patch, then patched yet again by a small Lockmeter
1.4.3 "ia64_0913" patch).

The sparc64 additions are courtesy of Anton Blanchard at Linuxcare.

The mips64 portion of the patch applies against the CVS kernel source
available at http://oss.sgi.com/projects/linux-scalability/ as of
October 2, presumptively at 2.4.0-test8-pre1.

Work is in progress to further reduce the performance impact of
Lockmetering. Other work is in progress to narrow the printf column
width of Lockstat.
