Eron,

I'm trying to get kernprof to work on the 2.2.16 kernel...

my understanding is that it was written to work with 2.3.* kernels.

the first
thing I did was try to compile kernprof, and got the following:

make: *** No rule to make target '/usr/include/linux/profile.h', needed
by kernprof.o'. Stop.

Obviously, I'm missing an important include file -- can anyone tell me
where I can get this?

A few months ago I did some investigations into Linux profiling utilities and summarised my results. For a number of reasons I finished up using a tool called sprof. It's not that I thought kernprof was bad, just that I needed something to work on 2.2.* kernels. What do you want to profile?

If you'd like some more info, let me know.

Cheers,
Dave
