Kgdb is in Andrew's mm tree and heading to Linus' tree. I thought the reason KDB was rejected was because they did not want a kernel debugger at a crashed system? The philosophy of kdump is "freeze the system, take a dump and reboot." Anyone knows of why kgdb was OK to KDB critics?
