kdb v4.1 is against 2.4.19 and 2.4.20 kernels.  2.4.9 is a lot
different, especially after adding the RH patches.

You could try the old patches.  They are not supported and there have
been a lot of kdb enhancements since kdb v1.8.  You have to ask
yourself, if you are debugging a kernel, why stick with a distribution
kernel, especially one that is so old?
