Jack, After some more testing it appears that kdb on Opteron requires CONFIG_HOTPLUG=y. If I do the following: make defconfig after applying the kdb patches, I get a kernel that won't boot. (It triple faults after "Freeing unused kernel memory....") The above config has CONFIG_HOTPLUG not set.
