Yep.  Rather than just sending a patch, I figured I should bring it up
for discussion a bit first, as I figured that folks might have some 
opinions about the right interface for this. 

In my case, it turns out that the hardware was corrupting the 11th 
address bit, and so I would have needed to grep for all pointers 
pointing into the given page to get a hint about the problem. 

I'll see what I can do.
