Perhaps things have changed again since glibc-2.3.1 was released. What I do know is that glibc-2.2.5 does not have this issue.

I tested this with the latest glibc in rh RAWHIDE (glibc-2.3.1-34, which is a cvs snap) and it seems to have been fixed. So I expect it to work in 2.3.2 which i think will be released soon.
