FAM 2.6.9 in now available.
The source distribution can be downloaded from:

This release contains some minor new features:
- FAM daemon now backgrounds itself on Linux 2.4 and FreeBSD
(if not being invoked from inetd or xinetd)
- more options can be specified in fam.conf
- FreeBSD build fixes
