I would suggest starting with the contributed 2.4.7 kernel patch that
can be found here (attached to the bug):

It is highly likely that there are differences in the relevant files
between 2.4.7 and 2.4.10, however they should be less substantial than
the differences between 2.4.0 and 2.4.10.
I haven't tested this patch well, which is why it's not on the download
page. If a few persons could confirm whether this patch works, I'll
happily add it there.
Let me know how you go.
Also, if you get it working satisfactorily, you might be able to
contribute a patch for 2.4.10 by running "diff -Naur" on a clean 2.4.10
directory and a patched 2.4.10 directory, and redirecting the output to
a file.
