Hello,
I have observed that when using devfs in connection with the
DAC960 driver for Mylex RAID, several things are going wrong:
- The Mylex partitions appear as /dev/rd/discX/partY, where
they should appear as /dev/rd/controllerX/discY/partZ.
(or whatever mnemonic one would use for "controller").
- devfsd generates no compatibility entries of the "old" DAC960 style
/dev/rd/cXdYpZ.
- Instead, /dev/rd is reserved for RAM disks in devfs.
I had a short e-mail exchange with Leonard Zubkoff, the DAC960
maintainer, about this issue, and he said it was unresolved between
Richard and him.
Are there any plans to resolve this problem in the near future?
In particular, is it necessary to use /dev/rd for RAM disks rather than
e.g. /dev/ramdisk ?
Best regards,
Martin
