This is still happening wierder than ever. I don't know what to do. It is seemingly random, and I can at least open terms now, however, what I have to do it start so many in rapid succession that X & KDE bog down, and after 5 or 10 seconds about 15 will start to open, maybe four or five will survive, the rest will report 'unable to open slave pty .....' What can I do? Do I try a re-install? [I suspect the sames results in the end, but am willing to try]. ....... Maybe I will drop back to kernel 2.4.3, and see.
