I've noticed this behavior on linux systems following a
panic or hang. I haven't seen it when the system is shut down
cleanly so that the csaacct shutdown script (/etc/rc.d/init.d/csaacct)
is called to stop CSA so that the /var/csa/day/pacct file is closed.
