you can use a swapfile too:

% dd if=/dev/zero of=/var/.swap bs=1M count=1024
% mkswap /var/.swap
% swapon /var/.swap

iirc xfs_db can do some magic with your xfs, but i've never used it on
real data and can't recommend using it. sorry, but i'm not no xfs-expert
and can't help you any further with the errors above. maybe opening a bug
via http://oss.sgi.com/bugzilla/  could ring some attention.
