patch 2.5 which I've installed from the Freeware CD for IRIX has repeatably
damanged my working tree.  Sympthom is that patch terminates processing
of a patch after having interactivly asked a few questions.  I'm not
sure that this is actually limited to patch on IRIX but I thought I
should warn people ...
