XFS: A high-performance journaling file system
On May 1 2001, SGI made available Release 1.0 of its high-end XFS file
system for Linux.
XFS, widely recognized as the industry-leading high-performance
filesystem, provides rapid recovery from system crashes
and the ability to support extremely large disk farms. XFS is
the first journaled filesystem for Linux
available today that has
a proven track record in production environments
since late 1994.

XFS is licensed under the GPL.
Release 1.0.2
of SGI XFS for Linux is now available.
XFS Installation
SGI XFS Linux is available in the following versions:
- A fast-moving development tree, which is a current snapshot of
the XFS development code. For information on installing the development code,
see Installing the XFS Development Tree
.
- XFS release 1.0.2.
This release runs on both x86 and
IA-64 architectures.

- XFS release 1.0.1.
This earlier release runs exclusively on the x86 architecture.
