SGI XFS Linux Release 1.2

XFS for Linux Release 1.2 supports the x86 architecture and, through patches, the IA-64 architecture. XFS 1.2 allows you to choose the logical block size for a filesystem.

XFS Installation

Because this release requires a 2.4 kernel, it may require some updates to your system if you are currently running the 2.2.x series kernels. Please see the latest Linux 2.4 Changes document for details on the minimum levels of software necessary to install and run a Linux 2.4 kernel.

If you want to install a new system to run XFS Linux Release 1.2, there is an x86 system installer based on the Red Hat Linux 8.0 release, with an XFS-enabled version of the 2.4.18-17 kernels. This installer is available as an ISO image.
