SGI XFS Linux Release 1.1

XFS for Linux Release 1.1 supports x86 and IA-64 architectures. It provides bug fixes and general performance improvements to XFS Linux Release 1.0.2. For a list of changes and bugfixes that have been made since the 1.0.2 release, see the XFS for Linux Release 1.1 Change Log.

Before installing the XFS filesystem for Linux, you should look over the XFS for Linux Release 1.1 Caveats for a list of limitations, requirements, and special instructions for this release.

XFS Installation

Because this release requires a 2.4 kernel, it may require some updates to your system if you are currently running the 2.2.x series kernels. Please see the latest Linux 2.4 Changes document for details on the minimum levels of software necessary to install and run a Linux 2.4 kernel.

XFS Linux Release 1.1 is available through the following distributions mechanisms:

If you want to install a new system to run XFS Linux Release 1.1, there is an x86 system installer based on the Red Hat Linux 7.3 release, with an XFS-enabled version of the 2.4.18-4 kernels. This installer is available as an ISO image. Note that Red Hat has released 2 versions of the 7.3 installer, please read the README-RH-VERSIONS file which covers the differences.
