Initial checkin

This directory includes an initial glimpse of XFS design documents
from 1993. These documents do not reflect the current state of
XFS in IRIX or what will be XFS in Linux.
These documents are a good source for initially studying the
internals of XFS, but one should keep in mind many of these
initial designs have changed since this was written in 1993.
SGI plans to work on up-to-date Linux-XFS design documents
to replace these historical, and now inaccurate documents.
Until then, these are a reasonable place from which to start
to learn about XFS.

The files are in a gzipped, tar, Adobe PDF, PostScript, or text formats
which you may download via either of:

	o http: http://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/design_docs/
	o ftp: ftp://oss.sgi.com/www/projects/xfs/design_docs/

(ftp usually works better for big files since it can be
restarted in case of timeouts or other mid-transfer failures)

------- ------- ------- ------- ------- ------- -------

Before SGI can distribute additional XFS code,
the original IRIX-XFS code needs to be "cleaned"
of legal encumbrances. It also needs to be ported
from the IRIX-XFS source base to the Linux-XFS source base.

Please bear with us as we complete this process.
