<P>The Linux Test Project is SGI's answer to the question: "What tests are out
there for Linux?"  We will be releasing an ever growing collection of 
tools for testing and stressing the Linux Kernel and related features.  These are
all released under the open source (GPL) model.  We hope you find them useful and will be
interested in contributing changes or additions.

<P>Our first installment includes just a couple of testing tools for stressing filesystems.
The SGI XFS team has found these very useful in the past and would like them made available for
the entire Linux community.  The sources are available today for <A 
HREF="ftp://oss.sgi.com/www/projects/ltp/download/">download</A>.  Simply unpack the tar file, 
and follow the instructions in the "INSTALL" file.

<P>In the future we will bre adding more individual tests and tools, 
as well as whole sets of tests, for various areas of the Linux Kernel.  We'll also explain
the simple rules we use to write tests, so that you can contribute too!  Watch the FAQ and NEWS links for news and information about the Linux Test Project at SGI.
