I've booted with a live-cd using a newer kernel (2.6.24), and the
controller is now recognized properly (and not unknown):

description: IDE interface
product: MCP67 IDE Controller
vendor: nVidia Corporation
....
configuration: driver=pata_amd

with reiser, and is not working with XFS.
