Thread-topic: ltp filesystem ftests failing under xfs partition

Hello all,

I am seeing sporadic failures of ftest01, ftest03, ftest05, and ftest07 under the xfs filesystem with kernel 2.6.10. I’ve seen this across many architectures including x86_586. Have there been any reports of this?  The tests seem to fail very often when run with the entire ltp filesystem test suite, but also fails when the individual test is run by itself in a loop.

This test has seen no failures, in ext2, ext3, jfs, tmpfs, ramfs partitions.

[Example of output]

ftest05     1  FAIL  :        Test[4]: fsync error 5.

ftest05     1  FAIL  :        Test{3882} failed, expected 0 exit.

ftest05     2  FAIL  :        Test failed.

My test setup is a 100MB xfs filesystem on a loopback device which is situated on a NFS root filesystem.

The ftests also fail on a physical xfs partition.

The test attached was run 51 times, and 6 failures were observed when calling fsync.

I’ve attached the source to ftest01.
