Dear Sir, Madam.,
My name is Ori Idan and I work for an Israeli reseller of storage systems.
One of our systems is a NAS that is based on Linux 2.6.13 and XFS.
Creating Snapshots on this machine denies access to the all shares for 15
seconds.
I understand that the procedure that causes this is the locking of the file
system with xfs_freeze.
My questions are:
1. Is it theoretically possible to create snapshots without xfs_freeze?
Is it theoretically possible to have snapshots creation that will not
disable access to the shares?
2. Should we expect a development of that sort?
3. If not, is it possible to reduce the freeze time, and what is the
minimum time?
I appreciate your help and thank you very much,
Ori Idan
