Hi Eric,

Thanks, but I got the solution.

I should actually try to mount with option nouuid i.e.
Mount -o nouuid dev/mapper/volgp01-vol01Snap001 /testmount_alt

This works.

See what the kernel actually said on this failure, for starters.   The 
userspace error is not useful, it's just a generic error message.
