Hello again,
I am wondering if you guys have any idea if it possible to have
the High Performance Guaranteed-Rate I/O-Unlimited Streams software
option in SuSE v.10 and linux kernel 2.6.13+? I would need to be able to
have this option for running the video-on-demand service. Do you know if
it is possible to have it? Also do you guys have any clue how much it
costs to have this software option(GRIO-Unlimited Streams)? Or is this
once again a service which is only limited to IRIX OS? Thanks in advance
GRIO (V1), as implemented on Irix, will almost certainly never be ported
to Linux.
The realtime subvolume by itself really doesn't give you much in terms
of realtime. It's essentially a more deterministic allocator, which
allocates in larger units, and direct IO. It was -part- of the GRIO
system on Irix.
You should look at the ioprio stuff that Andi & Jens were talking about
on the other thread.
Or, talk to an SGI sales rep for a full-blown media playout solution :)
