This is a different (but related) issue to the grub problem - RedHat don't support XFS, so they don't provide it as an available file system in the installer by default - but at least anaconda will support XFS - if, as you say, you use 'xfs' on the install boot command line - which is better than no support at all for XFS ...


You can also hack the anaconda scripts to make XFS as an available file system, but it's probably quicker for most people to add 'xfs' on the boot command line.

I don't understand why they are so resistant to adding XFS and ReiserFS support to FC and Anaconda. I would be very interested in knowing the reason.

You will need to search the archives of this list for pointers as to reasons why RedHat may or may not support XFS.
