Play with the blocking/buffering options of xfsdump itself. Again (I know, I'm repeating myself), there is no reason to use an external buffering program to a local tape device. Only if you are streaming to an external device do you need to pipe through a buffering program on the other size (where the tape device is local). -- Bryan J.
