Forget the image, I used dd_rescue to move the data to another drive with
little luck in any recovery. When running xfe_repair on the device these are
the messages I'm seeing.
....................................
*xfs_repair /dev/hdb*
*Phase 1 - find and verify superblock...*
*bad primary superblock - bad magic number !!!*
* *
*attempting to find secondary superblock...*
"*found candidate secondary superblock...*
*error reading superblock 27 -- seek to offset "some large number" failed*
*unable to verify superblock, continuing...*
Thanks for any input you guys can give.

Christian,
I've managed to get an image file of the drive that was dying using
dd_rescue and have tried to run xfs_repair -f /dev/hdb1 with the following
results, does it mean anything to you? I'm still having a difficult time
with this thing but have made some progress.
Thanks for any light you can shed.
AJM,
.....found candidate secondary superblock...
superblock read failed, offset 209002168320, size 2048, ag 0, rval 22
