That worked fine, alvaro@blade01:/dataentry/imagefiles> time ~alvaro/listdir | wc -l 3305187 real 0m4.054s user 0m1.902s sys 0m1.568s anyway to copy the files using this method ? As a matter of fact, listing the files is not my concern, backup is what worries me, I have tar running for 36hours now, and only got 117gigs so far...
