I apologise if I am going over old ground here, but I urgently need some
help.

I have a hard disk with an XFS file system on it created under IRIX. I
think it has version 1 directories (superblock versionnum =0x1094).
Having changed over to (Debian) Linux, the intention is to bring this
drive over, along with its contents, but so far, without success.

1. A dump was taken of the fs under IRIX using xfsdump. However, when we
try to rebuild that (using xfsrestore under Linux) there are many errors
and no directory structure is built. Details can be provided. The -J
flag was used and improved things but it still failed.

2. When the drive is mounted (kernel 2.4.27), the mount point appears
empty but a df shows the drive as being 50% full. If you use a current
version of xfsdump(2.2.27), it appears to recognise a lot (if not all)
of the files on the fs . However, it again fails when an attempt is made
to restore it to another XFS fs.

Is there a "proper" way of converting/copying this drive so that I can
use it under Linux, or do the version 1 directories prohibit conversion?

.
Thanks,
Richard
