DMAPI docs can be found here:

The SGI DMAPI implementation is fairly stable, and has been for a long time.
We're always fixing bugs or otherwise tweaking it, though.

Get your 2.6 kernel tree from oss.sgi.com.  It'll have DMAPI in it already.
Hmm, and that just happens to be a 2.6.10-based tree right now.
