Hello. We are having some strange problems with a couple of our xfs
filesystems.
We have a large xfs filesystem being used to hold email data, and have
encountered 'out of diskspace' error messages being generated when trying to do
things like simply create a directory. However 'df' shows that there is tons of
diskspace left, and tons of inodes left.
The filesystem was formatted with the following parameters:
- default block size of 4096
- inode size of 1024
- maxpct set to 33%
In retrospect, it seems like it would of been smarter to use a blocksize of
2048 since the great majority of files are less then 4K, but I am confused as
to why this would cause the 'out of diskspace' problem.
Is there 'other' portions of the filesystem which could take up 33% of it?
In this case there was 2.2G being reported as free by df, yet new files could
not be created. Deleting existing files did allow new ones to be created.
Does anyone have any ideas why this would occur or where I can turn to for
more information?
