testing shouldn't cause crashes --- if it does it's a bug and should
be reported

plenty of people beat on XFS very hard on very large filesystems and
don't see crashes

and testing 'mount -o sync' isn't usually helpful, the performance is
abysmal and it exercises different code paths to be very much less
useful
