either. if you do the entire sw RAID it might not be clear which
underlying device is bad if that's the case however under such cases i
would expect the RAID to mark that drive bad a give you a chance to
rebuild

xfs_repair will repair problems.  badblocks can't repair anything
since it's a hw problem --- and if you do have badblocks, XFS won't
like that

basically, if you have a bad disk, replace it ASAP
