Thanks... I've run it for half an hour on a raid5 device (on 2.6.6)
and it was still chugging away when I interrupted it.  Unmounted,
ran check/repair and no problems found... hmm.

Repeated on just a regular scsi disk and also no problems so far.

Oh.  So - you're testing this with CONFIG_LBD enabled I assume;
does it fail on small devices (several gigabytes for example)?
You can use -dsize=10g for example to restrict mkfs.xfs to making
a smaller filesystem.  There are known device driver issues with
multi-terabyte MD devices in current kernels, and I suppose the
same sorts of issues may still be lurking in other drivers too.
