Keep in mind my recent personal experience. I tested my memory with memtest86 for two days with the extended option and found no errors. I compiled the kernel and found a SIG-11 that happens at different places every compile. ...I switched the memory and the compiles and memtest86 both worked successfully. ...in other words... it could really still be memory.

memtest86 run a whole night as well with no reported error. So, this is
supposed to be a bug within the userland tools, namely xfs_repair. Allocating
2 GB of memory is not very, uhm, modest... ;)
