LOL. Okay, I really have no idea how to interpret this, so I'll concede you
the point (whatever it is ;-)

Based on the current protocols, that's pretty damned hard to do, given all the
work-arounds. I'm working off of what I had thought the unwritten rule was
for all of us admins of public servers: don't exacerbate the problem by
(re)transmitting spam ourselves. If I ever catch one of my many users sending
spam, I'll terminate the account immediately. In addition to that, I don't
run an open relay, nor do I run open lists.
Thank god for RBLs, otherwise I'd be paying for a hell of alot more bandwidth
(out of the ~200,000 attempts to connect to my server per month 47% are
rejected based on RBLs).
Now, what happens SGI ends up on an RBL because they refused to closed a hole
that spammers are using?
