Unfortunately, this doesn't tell us anything, it is just the generic
error from userspace "mount."  Looking at "dmesg" output should
tell you what really went wrong.

Sounds like a hardware error, if xfs can't even read the disk.
Again, look at dmesg output after this happens.

What makes you sure of this?

There are data recovery shops that can try to rescue data from
bad disks, if that turns out to be the case.
