Is this the 1.3.0-release XFS bits?  Do you see it in CVS kernels as well?
Any info on compiler version?

I run that test pretty much all day every day, and have never come across
anything like what you describe here before.  Which isn't to say its not a
real problem of course.  Have you tried a debug XFS kernel?
