I pulled a fresh one from CVS, compiled a minimalistic config, then
booted it and compiled a full fledged one with all bells and whistles
(smp, acpi) enabled, booted this and recompiled the whole thing again
with HT enabled (smp kernel) and make -j2 to put a bit more stress
on the fs and the kernel itself but in any case it seems to work fine
(although I still wouldn't call this an extensive testing).
Well, the conclusion is really that there might be something in the
Gentoo kernel causing the problem (or triggering it?). Maybe it's
still worth it to keep an eye open until it gets tracked down.
Maybe you got some comments on the sunit/swidth questions I posted
here twelve days ago? Nobody replied yet...
