Today I have got this bug!!! On clear host:

I did:

Power on 
login
> sync
> nice ls -R /
> cp /etc/X11/Xmodmap /tmp/Xmodmap
> vi /tmp/Xmodmap
change one strings
:w!
donn't quit
POWER OFF

result:

My system:

Compaq Proliant DL320
Attached scsi disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
sym0:0: FAST-40 WIDE SCSI 80.0 MB/s ST (25.0 ns, offset 31)
SCSI device sda: 35565080 512-byte hdwr sectors (18209 MB)

SGI XFS 1.2.0 with ACLs, DMAPI, realtime, quota, no debug enabled

OS: Suse Linux 8.2

First time I got this bug about 7 years before in Irix 5.3 XFS on my mail box
(in /var/mail/...). It still exists in Irix 6.5.x.
