In that respect, still OT, but valuable for most of you who care about the
data
on your disks, for an excellent SMART monitor tool for Linux, go here:

It is excellently maintained by Bruce Allen (who runs a large data center
if I am not mistaken).
If you distrust your harddisk's operation, be sure to have this tool
available,
or better, use it to predict upcoming harddisk disaster.
