The plot thickens:

blake & zen are both Linux boxes running on opposite sides of the planet
(network wise and physically). zen is running XFS btw :)

blake:~$ host -t soa xfs.org
xfs.org SOA xfs.org. cattelan.xfs.org. 2003032000 86400 3600 3600000 86400

blake:~$ host -t mx xfs.org
xfs.org mail is handled by 5 lips.thebarn.COM.
xfs.org mail is handled by 10 scream.digitalelves.com.xfs.org.

zen:~$ host -t soa xfs.org
xfs.org SOA xfs.org cattelan.xfs.org (
                        2003032000 ;serial (version)
                        86400 ;refresh period (1 day)
                        3600 ;retry interval (1 hour)
                        3600000 ;expire time (5 weeks, 6 days, 16 hours)
                        86400 ;default ttl (1 day)
                        )

zen:~$ host -t mx xfs.org
xfs.org MX 10 scream.digitalelves.COM
xfs.org MX 5 lips.thebarn.COM

Same SOA serial but different MX results.

Also worth noting:

blake:~$ host -t ns xfs.org
xfs.org name server lips.thebarn.COM.
xfs.org name server NS1.DOLPHINSTAFFING.COM.
xfs.org name server coco.macktronics.COM.

blake:~$ host NS1.DOLPHINSTAFFING.COM.
Host NS1.DOLPHINSTAFFING.COM not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)

zen:~$ host -t ns xfs.org C5.NSTLD.COM
xfs.org NS NS1.DOLPHINSTAFFING.COM
xfs.org NS COCO.MACKTRONICS.COM

C5.NSTLD.COM is authorative for .org. Results from other servers
authorative for .org that I tested were consistent (although I didn't
query them all).

The SOA for xfs.org should also contain the name of the primary name
server, not the domain itself (see SOA lines above).

So is this an SGI owned domain? The whois doesn't actually suggest so but
Russell did make an official sounding announcement about 1.3.0 :)

Ok, I'm off to clean up my desk.

Rob
