Unfortunately strace doesn't decode ioctl's, so we probably
wont get much information out of this - the device size is
clearly wrong though, so unlikely this is an XFS problem.

EVMS now exists as a userspace implementation above the DM layer,
I believe, so it wasn't discontinued (just kinda redirected).
