Depends on a few things, the blocksize, the size of the device
and the format of the directories.

A filesystem blocksize of over 4K will not work on ia32, 4K is the 
default on Irix, so this should be OK.

2T bytes is the device size limit on linux - without some large
patches in 2.4. You can deal with this in 2.6 though.

Directory format, xfs has 2, v1 and v2. Chances are, if your filesystem
is older, it is v1. Linux has problems with this and the code in the
tree now is broken - I posted a patch to fix it a few days ago.

Finally, the filesystem log, you will need to zero out the log as they
are not compatible between big and little endian boxes. Do a clean
unmount on Irix, then run xfs_repair -L on linux.
