i indeed removed it. I was using the serial console on it and typed CTRL-a 
to go to the beginning of the shell line, and it put me in kdb, stopping 
the machine. It took a few secs before finding the 'go' option ;), and 
since this box is prod i rather disabled the feature.

i shouldn't have changed anything else. If interested i can send my 
.config.

nope, this is a new box, new fs created with this kernel.
