Whatever backup/restore tool you use, make sure it is available when
you're booted from CD.  Assume no access to the HD at all.  If you;ve
reached the point of backing out completely there is a good chance the
system on disk is hosed (libraries broken, whatever).  Give this a dry run
before committing by blowing away the system on the disk.
