Recently, someone have found security hole in kernel 2.4 and Red Hat Inc.
have released update kernel package(*1). So, I'd like to update kernel
for my system and looked for update package in oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs.
But I could not find out.

Q1: Someone build update packages ?

Hai!

They are built on Red Hat 7.3 so you would need to rebuild them for Red Hat 9 since I don't have a Red Hat 9 box.

http://iserv.nl/files/xfs/2.4.20-13/

Get the kernel-2.4.20-13SGI_XFS_1.2.0.src.rpm
rpmbuild --rebuild --target=i686 kernel-2.4.20-13SGI_XFS_1.2.0.src.rpm

After much activity this should give you a binary rpm. Another option would be fetching the kernel-source rpm and building with one of the configs from the config subdirectory

rpm -ivh kernel-source-2.4.20-13SGI_XFS_1.2.0.i386.rpm
cd /usr/src/linux-2.4
make mrproper
cp configs/kernel-2.4.20-i686.config .config
make oldconfig
make dep && make bzImage && make modules && make modules_install && make install

edit /etc/lilo.conf
run lilo

Cheers
