Why is images/bootdisk.img an empty filesystem?

# mount bootdisk.img /mnt/test1 -o loop
# ls -l /mnt/test1
total 0
# umount /mnt/test1
# mount drvnet.img /mnt/test1 -o loop
# ls -l /mnt/test1
total 875
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root         4758 Apr 15 19:13 modinfo
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       867074 Apr 15 19:13 modules.cgz
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root          733 Apr 15 19:13 modules.dep

- I would have tried an NFS installation to see if /mnt/sysimage
can be umounted.
