Hello!

I have a high traffic web server running slackware linux 8.1. The most used filesystem on the server which hosts a free web mail application has xfs on it. Until recently the server had been running smoothly with the 2.4.18 kernel but for the last two weeks the server hangs every now and then with an xfs error. I upgraded the kernel to 2.4.19 but the problem persists. This is the dmesg message on the server when the error last occured:

xfs_inotobp: xfs_imap()  returned an error 22 on ide0(3,8).  Returning
error.xfs_iunlink_remove: xfs_inotobp()  returned an error 22 on
ide0(3,8).   Returning error.xfs_inactive:  xfs_ifree() returned an
error = 22 on ide0(3,8)
xfs_force_shutdown(ide0(3,8),0x1) called from line 1845 of file
xfs_vnodeops.c.  Return address = 0xc01e0c14
I/O Error Detected. Shutting down filesystem: ide0(3,8)
Please umount the filesystem, and rectify the problem(s)

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you very much for your support
