Hi Folks;

I am trying to set an extended attribute value to a symbolic link with

attr -s some.name -V "some value" some_file

and get

attr_set: Operation not permitted

but if I su up to root and do the same command the attribute is set.

I could not find a reference that required root access is required to set
extended attributes anywhere except for rootspace.

Also, I get the same results using setfattr.

Thanks;

Joe
